CHAPTER 18

The limousine pulled up in front of Jason's house.  The two of them, Jana and Jason, were sitting together so closely that they seemed almost swallowed up by the large interior of the car.  As Jake got out to open the door to the limousine, he didn't mind waiting as the couple, realizing that they were home, finally untangled from each others embrace.  They had been out "on the town" celebrating.  Each had made a major coup in their respective work; and, They now knew that the two of them being and working together was good for the Terragon Project.

Getting out of the car, they mumbled "Good-night" to Jake.  Still half holding each other, they entered the house and headed straight for the bedroom.  Kissing passionately, while undressing each other, they left the clothes in a heap on the floor, as they moved to the comfort of the satin covered bed.  Their love making had grown into the cherished tenderness so glorious that only two people, who were at peace with themselves and each other, could ever hope to experience as mortals.  They had everything, and it showed in every facet of their glorious existence.  Their love making, which was more a joining of two souls than a physical act, manifested itself in such total harmony, that their relationship was as gratifying as a classical composition being brought to life by a master musician.  They were as one, for each knew and felt the other's thoughts and feelings.

With one last kiss, Jason slid off of Jana, almost totally spent.  He gathered her up in his arms and together they shared their ecstasy, while the intense physical and emotional result of their love making slowly subsided.  Jason drifted off to sleep for a few moments as Jana, lying next to him, studied his face.  It was relaxed.  Although in his sleep he was shut off to her, her heart swelled with love, in the knowledge of the gentleness and kindness that this man possessed.  When she had told him about her meeting with the Terragons, and that they had agreed to let them try and be together and work together; he hadn't said a word.  He just pulled her into his arms and held her.  When they finally pulled away from one another, just far enough to kiss, Jana was so touched to find tears on his cheeks.  If she had had any doubts before about their love, they faded completely away in that one brief moment.

Jason stirred and opened his eyes.  "Have you been watching me all the time I've been asleep?" He questioned as he smiled contentedly.

"What makes you think I would want to watch that face of yours?"  She said, as she caressed his cheek and then both drifted into a peaceful sleep.

The next few days were busy ones for Jason and Victoria, they both had lots of work to catch up on.  Declaring Jana's training to be complete, Xenous had gone.  It had been a sad moment for Jana since she had grown to care for Xenous, enjoying the easy and comfortable way she had about her.  Jana knew that she would never be able to have the same kind of relationship with anyone else because no one else knew the complete truth about Jason and her.  It was wonderful having Jason, but Jana hoped that she would be able to have the companionship of her friend Xenous, at least once in a while.  And then again, there was Ralph, he knew some of the truth and would be a great friend to both Jason and herself.

The limousine came to a stop in one of the reserved executive parking spaces at Century City Towers.  The driver opened the passenger door and Jana's slender form exited and headed toward the express elevator.  The security guard viewed her figure with rare pleasure.  It was unusual, an in person visit by the beautiful Victoria Davenport.  He was used to seeing only Jake acting as a courier to deliver documents or packages whenever the Davenport limousine graced his domain.

As Jana stepped off the elevator, she was swept into Jason's arms.  "I've been waiting for an hour!  What took you so long?"  He asked inquisitively.

"I know I said I'd be here earlier but with my having to pack and then I had to run an errand for our associates, it took longer than I had anticipated." Jana replied.

"It's just that since you'll be gone for the next few days, I wanted to spend every spare second with you."

"I know darling, but it couldn't be helped and besides I think you'll be pleased with the latest.  They have decided to recruit Ralph and asked me to take him out to Malibu.  He'll be back to work with us in a couple of weeks."

"That's great!  I've always liked Ralph and his high ideals.  Perhaps he can take some of the business trips that you would have otherwise been burdened with.  And with him helping us, maybe we can spend more time together."

"I thought you'd be pleased.  It sure was fun though, watching his reaction as the wall slid open.  Boy, was he curious as to what this whole thing was about."

"Well, he's sure got an enlightenment coming.  It's still hard for me to believe at times.  Anyway, that is enough about Ralph, let's get out of here and to some place where we can be alone."

"I thought you'd never ask."  She said and they stepped onto the elevator.

After an evening of romance, filled with togetherness and the raptures of their love, they headed for the airport.  As the limo neared the terminals, Jana told Jake that he should drop her at the Charter service.  After Jason and she had kissed their good-byes, and as Jana was stepping from the car, Jason asked, "Oh, by the way, where did you say you were going on this business trip of yours?"

"To a small town called Spencer in Missouri.  It's so little I'm sure you've never heard of it before." Jana replied with a smile.  "I'll call you every night and will see you in a few days."

And then in the familiar tone that she had heard from Michael so many times before, Jason said, "I love you."

She said, "I love you too."

Just because that was how they felt.
